Create View → open up your assembly file (click on the little folder on the right hand side of your file) → open
You can try to automatically explode it, but this does not always work out so well (especially when you have a lot of parts).... so select manual
Tweak Components - pull them apart one by one
select each component, click on (x) (y) (z) direction to move it in, and type in how far to move it.
The final view should have all of the components pulled apart from one another
Animate
Record a video of your parts being pulled apart and assembled back together.
Save your presentation
Open up your *idw, and create a page for an exploded view
Adjust the scale to fill the page, and change the orientation
Update your title block with correct scale, title, part number
Add a parts list from the Annotate tab
Adjust the format to only include item #, quantity, and part number.
Add balloons with leader lines to identify all of your parts.
Just click on the balloon, then click on the part, right click →continue.
Add in the assembly drawing next to the exploded view, and double check that everything in your title block is entered correctly.
Create new sheets for each individual part.
Place View → Just like in AutoCAD
Annotate → add dimensions
Part number on each sheet should correspond to the #'s in the exploded view.
Try out the sectional and detail views on your piston:
Add dimensions to everything - Annotate tab
Notice that you can set the precision and style of your dimensions as you are creating them.
Once you are done, save your *.idw and email it in!
